Designing with Light | The Mob Song from Beauty and the Beast

Some musical numbers are already so full of energy that the challenge isn’t creating drama, it’s finding a way to match it. The Mob Song from Beauty and the Beast is one of those moments. It’s loud, fast, chaotic, and emotionally charged, and I knew the projection design had to keep up.

In this video, I take you behind the scenes of my design process for this number, where it started, the pitfalls I ran into, and the single creative choice that brought the whole thing together. Light became the answer, transforming the forest into something more immersive, more dangerous, and more alive with the mob’s energy.
