Transforming a Beast

Transforming a Beast

How do you transform the Beast on stage without copying a 30 year old illusion? In this behind-the-scenes video, I take you inside the design process for one of the most iconic moments in Beauty and the Beast.

From questioning the traditional blackout transformation, to designing projection that works with the score, to rebuilding and animating an entire castle as the curse breaks, this sequence became far more than a single effect. The goal was simple: create a transformation that feels magical, emotional, and earned - without relying on tricks that belong to another era.

This is what happens when storytelling, projection design, and a little bit of Disney magic come together at just the right moment.
