Step into the elegance of a grand Baroque Castle Library, where gold spiral staircases wind their way up three storeys of soaring bookshelves. The architecture is rich with ornate detail, from marble columns to gilded railings, evoking a sense of luxury and sophistication. An impressive curved staircase descends into the heart of the scene, surrounding a roaring fireplace that bathes the space in a comforting glow. Sunlight streams through vast, three-storey windows, casting shifting patterns of light across the marble floor and highlighting the library’s architectural splendour.

This scene was designed for Beauty and the Beast to symbolise the shifting dynamic between Belle and the Beast. Early in the production, the Beast’s castle is dark and Gothic, reflecting the guarded and emotionally closed nature of the Beast. The library’s transition to a Baroque style, with it's lighter cream and gold tones, reflects the Beast’s growing vulnerability and Belle’s softening perception of him. This visual shift not only enhances the emotional arc but also lightens the production's overall tone after the sombre atmosphere of Act 1.
