Designed as the Act 1 scene for Swan Lake, this backdrop provides the ideal setting for Prince Siegfried's birthday celebrations and the moment that will change everything. The alternate lighting states have been deliberately designed to allow the time to gradually shift throughout the scene from afternoon to evening, with a special effect option even including a flock of swans flying through the scene to their home on the lake.

From the terrace of a grand European palace, the world stretches out in breathtaking grandeur. A sandstone balustrade frames the foreground, its stonework draped in climbing roses and flowering vines, while stone steps rise to the right toward an ornate rotunda, its columns wreathed in blossom. Beyond the balustrade, the land falls away to a still alpine lake, and beyond that, snow-capped mountains rise against an endless sky, their peaks evocative of the great ranges of Europe. To the left, a magnificent palace crowns the clifftop, its towers and spires reaching skyward with the confidence of centuries.

Framed by ancient trees in the tradition of classical landscape painting, this scene carries the spirit of Claude Lorrain landscapes, controlled perspective, a singular light source, and the deep contrast of a world seen from a perfect vantage point. It is a backdrop of rare fairytale quality, designed to feel simultaneously real and dream-like.
