This SFX animation works as an establishing shot, easing the audience into the world of the orchard before the scene's action begins. A subtle camera rotation settles into the final position of the backdrop, giving the flat plane of a static image real dimensionality and depth as the world opens out around it.
Through the rotation, butterflies drift between flowers and a flock of birds crosses the sky above the distant cliffs. Hidden in that waterfall is a faint rainbow, with the birds passing directly over it, a quiet nod to Somewhere Over the Rainbow and its line about birds flying over the rainbow. Most audiences won't consciously register it. The devoted Wizard of Oz fan will.
This animation has been built for flexibility, easing directors into the scene without demanding a specific musical cue, while still adding a layer of craft and storytelling most backdrops never attempt.
