The Wild Forest 1 | SFX 1

This effect carries Dorothy, Scarecrow and Tin Man directly into the Lion’s forest, with the camera travelling along the yellow brick road as the world of the scene moves in behind them. It’s the kind of entrance a static backdrop simply can’t deliver, giving the characters somewhere to arrive from rather than somewhere they’ve already landed. This is the perfect backdrop to support the "Lions, and Tigers, and Bears" moment in the show.

As the Lion appears, the camera swishes sharply to the left, the perfect beat for him to leap out and startle the group, before settling on the angle that becomes the resting position for the rest of the scene. Built to land exactly on cue with the moment of fright, this effect turns the arrival into the forest into part of the storytelling itself, using projection to put the audience on the road with the characters rather than simply behind them. A striking way to open the scene with motion, tension, and a proper scare.
