The Swan Lake

The Swan Lake is StageScape's scenic projection for the iconic lakeside setting at the heart of the ballet. Designed with deliberate restraint, this scene captures the classical, haunting quality that audiences instinctively associate with Swan Lake - water catching the light, distant mountains fading into the horizon, and a gothic ruin framing the right of the stage. Trees border the scene on both sides, giving it depth and enclosure without overwhelming the dancers at its centre.

Six lighting states carry the scene from a pale daytime stillness through two progressively darkening dusk states, and into the mystery of evening, one bathed in moonlight, one darker and more ambiguous. Each state has been designed to transition naturally into the next, giving directors the tools to let the scene breathe and shift with the drama unfolding in front of it.
